Korean Skincare Routine
Korean skincare is world-famous for a reason. It focuses on gentle care, hydration, and consistent layering to achieve healthy, glowing skin. But with so many products, it’s easy to get confused. Here’s a simple guide to help you apply your Korean skincare products in the correct order.
1. Cleansing
Double cleansing is a cornerstone of K-beauty. It involves two steps:
- Oil Cleanser or Cleansing Balm: Removes sunscreen and makeup.
- Water-based Cleanser: Cleans dirt, sweat, and impurities.
2. Toner
Prepares your skin for the next steps. It helps balance pH and allows better absorption of active ingredients.
3. Essence / Ampoule / Serum
These are targeted treatments. Use one or more depending on your skin’s needs:
- Essence: Hydration and skin texture.
- Ampoule: Potent care for brightening, calming, etc.
- Serum: Firming, acne care, anti-aging, etc.
Tip: Apply in order from the thinnest to the thickest texture.
4. Eye Cream
Gently pat a small amount around the eyes. This area is delicate and needs special care.
5. Emulsion / Lotion
Light moisturizer that helps retain hydration. Ideal for balancing moisture and oil.
6. Moisturizer / Cream
Locks in all the previous layers. Choose a texture that suits your skin type (gel, cream, balm).
7. Sunscreen (Morning Only)
In the morning, always finish with SPF. Sunscreen is essential to protect your skin from UV damage and premature aging.
